remember that time I didn’t check this for a while and that Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse song got a lot of notes

Is this what it feels like to be popular

Today’s events are absolutely sickening. As a runner in the Boston area, I find it to be absolutely disgusting and contemptible that terrorists would consider one of the oldest and most prestigious sporting events in the world to be a target to put fear and anger into the hearts of those they hate. After seeing images of blood-stained sidewalks, people without legs, runners knocked over just seconds from the finish, and so many other horrific things that are impossible to describe, I have nothing but complete, bitter, unfiltered hatred for whoever did this. One of my friends who lives less than four blocks from what reporters are calling “ground zero” has two friends in the hospital undergoing surgery. Countless athletes and bystanders have been injured on a beautiful day while they sought only to enjoy the sport and the day that nature blessed them with. People whose lifelong dream it has been to complete a 26.2 mile race have had their fantasy shattered when it seemed so close.

Whichever person or persons are behind this plot should be wiped from the earth. Nobody who would strike against countless innocent, helpless, loving, capable, and talented individuals in the midst of a day of celebration and happiness should be allowed to walk free amongst us. Their very existence insults the memory of the three that have already died and the many more still in critical condition and awaiting treatment. I’m not a strong advocate of the death sentence, but I truly believe that if an individual or group of conspirators is apprehended with no doubt of their guilt that the US judiciary system should not hesitate to “give them the chair,” as their actions warrant it.

The Westboro Baptist Church can shove it up their ass, and that’s all I have to say about that. They’re the filthiest piles of shit this country has ever had the misfortune to be home to.

Lastly, I’m saddened by the blow that running will sustain. Countless runners will think twice about practicing their sport, marathon participation will undoubtedly go down, and many of us will have to worry about our safety even more than we already do in this rapidly deteriorating world. Add to all this Kim Jong Un’s overblown ego, and you have a recipe for losing faith in humanity.

My feelings go out to everybody involved, and my thanks to everybody who’s helping clean up from this tragedy, especially the runners who crossed the finish line and kept on going straight to the hospital to donate blood. You can bet that if I wasn’t tied up with school that I would be there tomorrow trying to help restore order.

This is the kind of event that we will remember for decades. We will forever associate these horrible attacks with the Boston Marathon.

Donate to the Red Cross. Help with the relief efforts. Go for a run. Sign up for a 5k. Don’t let these attacks ruin your life. Although hundreds have had their existences drastically altered in just a few short seconds, we can honor them best by moving on with our lives and doing our best to help them recover. Don’t let the sport of running die, and don’t let the injured go without treatment.

That’s all I have to say.

I still don’t know what I want to do with my life in the long run, but one thing I know for sure is that I want to go to Middlebury College.

I want to go so badly. More than I’ve ever wanted anything before, I think.

Time to become even more studious.

I am like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the football from him. I am too naive to learn, I always believe that there is a person out there who will “complete me,” who will be the yin to my yang. I don’t fall often, but when I do, I fall hard. And it always ends up the same way. Therefore, I have come to this conclusion.

It does not pay to fall in love.
